The Great Depression
— Learning Objective: At the end of this Unit, students will have a basic understanding of the Great Depression. They will be able to list and explain the causes of the Great Depression. They will also be able to describe the effects that the Great Depression had on American Society.
The Great Depression- Day One
Today in class students will be introduced to the Great Depression. Students will begain the class by loging on to the Website. www.historyhotline.com. From there the students will navigate to the left hand side of the site and scroll to the bottom of the page. There the students will click on the Tab label Great Dpression. The students should already know this procedure. Once they find the correct page the students will follow the online instructions and complete the learning acitivities.
Today in class students will begain by taking a pretest over the Great Depression. The goal of this pretest is to indroduce the students to many of the key concepts of the Great Depression. It is also aimed at gaging the students prior knowledge. Good luck on this test. It will only count as a participation grade. So aslong as you put forth effort to complete this test you will recieve the full points. All answers must be attempted. Once the pretest is completed save it and email it back to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Once you have finished you pretest you will start the learning process. Watch the following YouTube clip. During this clip you should be taking notes. Use the Cornell Note style. No other style will be excepted. Once you are finished with taking the notes over the clip, save a copy and send a copy to me. I will check them for content and assess a grade for them.
Activity Three- Blog post discussion
After the video is viewed and notes have been taken, students will post a review of the video to the Class Bog site. Students must post a review and comment on at two other posts. Blog post should demonstrate a understanding of the video. Students should post on what they learned from the video, what they thought was interesting about the video.
Day Two- Activity 1
Today in class students will take notes over the the chapter 21 section 1 notes. Once again this is to be done in Cornell Note form. Once the notes are taken students will email their notes to me.
Research the great depression causes and effects. Find pictures and write a summary over your findings. The summary should be a 1/2 page to page with at least 10 pictures. This summary is due the next class period. Students will present these summaries to the class.
Day Three- Activity 1 and 2
Today in class students will first present their summaries to the class. Once every student has had the oppurtunity to present students will then take notes over the section 2 power point. Student notes must be in Cornell Note form and turned in to the instructor upon completition.
Day Four - Activity 1 and 2
Today students will take a Midtest. They must down load the Quiz document take the test, save it then email it back to me. Once this is complete students must complete the chapter 21 worksheets, down load them and then send the finish product to me. These must be completed by the next class period.
Day Five Activities 1 and 2
In class today students will complete the study guide and review the notes. Prepare for the chapter 21 test next class period.
Day Six- Chapter 21 test
Students will complete the chapter 21 test. Student will have all class period to complete the test. A hard copy of the test will be provided to the students. When the test is complete they will turn it in to the instructor.
Day Seven- Review of Student Scores and Post Test.
This is the last day of the unit. Students will get their graded test back. The teacher will review the test in class. Students will see the mistakes they made and correct their test. Once this has been completed the students will take a post test to ensure mastary of the chapter.
